Our team of teachers plays an important role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our children to grow and develop in. 

At Petra Preschool, we...

  • ​Ensure quality education by using a learning model that emphasizes child-initiated exploration and teacher-guided instruction through Creative Curriculum® by Teaching Strategies.
  • Use a faith-informed method that motivates the staff to care and love the children and the families we serve, and teachers may supplement the structured curriculum from time to time with Bible stories and other lessons that promote strong moral behavior and that discuss the Christian view of God. 
  • Are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization created to meet a need for a quality early childhood education program for low-income and foster families by increasing opportunities for all to have access to subsidized child care spots.
  • Focus on creating a high quality academic environment for the benefit of families and children of all backgrounds.
  • Are a certified 2-Star TRS Provider through the Texas Rising Star Program and working towards a 4-Star rating. ​
  • Admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin; additionally, students and their families are not required to affiliate with Christianity or any religion to attend Petra.

Available Positions

Full-Time Teaching Position (Various Age Groups from Ages 6 Weeks to 4 Years Old)

This full-time teaching position allows you to creatively develop and prepare an engaging environment with the structure of Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum. We believe in creating opportunities for children to explore inside and outside of the classroom on a daily basis!

Job Description: 
  • Provide opportunities for rich, conceptual development by utilizing Creative Curriculum concepts that actively engage children in the learning process, encourage independence, and allow them to make meaningful choices.
  • Continuously observe and assess children in their natural environment to scaffold teaching.
  • Nurture and maintain a culture of community among families and children at Petra Preschool.
  • Actively implement trauma-informed strategies, like TBRI, throughout the day to connect and support all children.
  • Create a quality learning, friendly, welcoming environment where children feel safe, secure and able to develop a sense of belonging and value.
  • Ensure safety and well-being of each child at all times while modeling Christian values.
  • Upon being hired, caregivers will be required to do a 24 hour training to comply with Texas Rising Star's guidelines.

Experience: ​
  • Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 2 years (Preferred)
  • ​Must be 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must complete and pass background checks and fingerprinting.
